It was connected to a feed storage tank. With an electric motor, the fodder was channelled into the cylindrical body of the machine. 

The auger is a shaft with a helical sheet which turns and transports the feed from one cylinder to the other. The four orifices at the bottom of the cylinder served the purpose of speed: instead of applying one bag which was filled by the movement of the screw, four were applied and these were filled successively.
